OpenTail is an opensource Qt based tail application.
Why OpenTail and not tail -f -n.....?
Well, to be honest, there are nothing wrong with tail -f -......!
But what if:
- you want to highlight parts of the lines?
- you don’t want to see the text scrolling over the screen all the time, but just want a notification if something special happens?
- you want an email if something special happens?
Well, it is still possible using the command line tail, but good luck, and all my respect to you :-)
OpenTail can all the above, and much much more, and as users submits wishes, it can do even more.
The idea is to build the tailer based on requests from users, where the requests is build as plugins.
This way OpenTail will become the most versatile tailer ever made.
OpenTail is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
